With a defined communication strategy, startups have several advantages, starting with the recognition that the brand is gaining. It is not new that people create relationships with brands and that through word-of-mouth and news in the media they build the reputation of brands. A startup has the opportunity to define and work on its base reputation, maintaining it throughout its business development.
The sooner you start building your story, the easier it is to control what is said and written about your brand, as you control the conversation. Monitoring brand sentiment allows you to understand how your customers perceive you. If you expect the media to create content for you, you are giving others the opportunity to write your story, rather than the brand itself.
Strategic communication helps open doors to new opportunities. The various communication tools help spread the information. Depending on the messages and objectives to be conveyed, these tools leverage leads, contacts with potential partners, new talent and other stakeholders. Launching a business and not thinking about the best way to communicate it, how to get it to our potential customers, how I want to be recognized, how I differentiate myself, is a shot in the foot.
